The Arctic has nothing to do with Antarctica in these latitudes. Its places are deserts, its calm waters, its privileged access. Will we go back to Polar Lands? Surely yes, We have left many goals in the inkwell that will have to wait, including the great white predator, the polar bear.

However, the trip already came complete from the Norwegian Fjords, an area that we would recommend to anyone who asks us in the future ...

Polar Lands Reflections

We have not slept at all when SAS's flight to Oslo takes off from the small Longyearbyen airport. It's 4 in the morning of a new sunny day (the sun begins to hide shyly already), the one that has accompanied us since we landed until we left, and that is probably the culprit along with the temperature increases, that where there should be ice and floating icebers there is a desert, wonderful if in a polar area

Polar Lands, which we will talk about in the future to tell you how they work and our general experience with them, was the agency that has taken us to one of the most inhospitable places on the planet with routes designed and exclusive by Ramón Larramendi himself, something that cannot count most of the companies that outsource these services, although where They are truly specialists in Greenland (UPDATED 2015: We fulfilled the dream 1 year later on a trip to Greenland), where they make real summer campaigns. Another dream to fulfill?

The polar bear? We are not going to fool anyone ... it was our greatest illusion! but we leave without even intuiting it. However, there are two ways of seeing life, and we have always chosen to do so with a smile. Is it not a privilege to have an encounter with the Svalbard Dwarf Reindeer, unique on the planet? Or do it with those little ones polar foxes white fur and certainly nice? Or the shocking rorcual in the middle of nowhere just a few meters from us as big as the sailboat itself? Or even to be able to walk through the most isolated ghost town on the planet, Pyramiden?

We leave Svalbard Islands. We say !! see you soon to Polar Lands! Among all these reflections. The peaks of this mountain landscape are still snowy, but after several days letting in the rays of that beautiful sun that left a special tone at midnight, it has allowed dozens of rivers and waterfalls to pass through its slopes.

The dream can with us. We fall for the "wiggle" of the plane. It's less than 4 hours, and today we don't stop in Tromso.

From Polar Lands to Spain in half a day

Who was going to tell us when after two and a half days between the most fearsome seas on the planet we arrived in Antarctica. And many others back! !!How awful!! Well, going from Spain to the Arctic, or vice versa as we are doing today, has only been part-time. What will friend Amundsen think when he finds out.

Well, indeed, I pass through Oslo, breakfast (53 NOK) and farewell to Carmen (a pleasure to have shared this trip with you ... surely we expect more to Polar Lands together) and another small trip to Barcelona, now with vueling. !! We are already in Spain !!

And if it had not been because our stopover with A Coruña came out late, we would still have taken less, which forced us to eat (17.70 EUR) in Barcelona (whose exterior terrace of the Airport has us enchanted).

There will be time to summarize and assess the best and worst of the Fjords and the Norwegian Arctic, to write practical advice, to collect budgets, photos and videos (we bring a lot of material). Today it is time to unpack and find those "potricoles" that Paula likes so much about each trip and that are already part of our "little museum" in our own home. See you soon Polar Lands!

Isaac and Paula, already from A Coruña (Spain)

EXPENSES OF THE DAY:NOK 53 (approx 6.45 EUR) and 17.70 EUR
